Loss estimation in high frequency AC link power electronic transformer by SABER simulation

Abstract

This paper provides a method for the design and loss estimation of an AC/AC converter with a high frequency AC link using the SABER simulation software. The exact analytical method of design and loss computation is complex and in some cases impossible due to the presence of non-idealities. The voltage and current ratings of the power semiconductor switches are determined from simulation. Further losses in the circuit including semiconductor switching and conduction losses are estimated from the simulation.
