Abstract

The measurement of white collar, or knowledge worker, productivity has become increasingly important. However, there are no generally accepted methods or practices for handling this complex issue. This article attempts to help by reporting the results of nominal group sessions conducted with 39 executives, managers and academics. The ideas generated from these sessions are organized into a basic framework for understanding the measurement of white collar productivity. This approach has generated several ideas not previously addressed in the literature and provides a comprehensive view of white collar productivity measurement.
