Abstract

A physical model of the torso volume conductor and cardiac electrical generators has been developed to evaluate body surface Laplacian maps (BSLMs) in terms of known sources located in the region of the heart. The present tank experimental results support the hypothesis that the BSLM provides much greater spatial resolution than the body surface potential map (BSPM) in imaging and resolving multiple simultaneously active myocardial events, and the interpretation of the BSLMs associated with cardiac excitation in humans.
