Abstract

A study proposes the usage of robust tracking as a quantification of the permissible flight envelope. The main contribution of this study is to extend this idea by quantifying the permissible flight envelope. A key motivation for proposing techniques to estimate a priori the permissible flight envelope is the lack of flight data for loss-of-control (LOC). It is important to have an estimation tool that provides a good envelope prediction without resorting to extensive flight data. Robust tracking performance is proposed as a metric for this quantification.
