Abstract

The successful deployment of machine vision technology in freeway traffic management projects is presented. Incident management is its most popular application because it is still one of the major challenges in urban freeway operations, requiring constant attention and considerable investment in manpower and equipment. The fieldable version of the system along with results from the observations of the performance of the system are described. The deployment of the system in various forms at several other sites for freeway management is also summarized.
