Abstract

'Sabin' (Reg. No. CV-1070, PI 659083) hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was developed by the University of Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station and released in 2009. Sabin was tested as MN03358-4 in statewide yield trials from 2006 to 2008 and in the Uniform Hard Red Spring Wheat Regional Nursery in 2006 and 2007. Sabin was released based on its high grain yield, moderate resistance to Fusarium head blight (caused primarily by Fusarium graminearum Schwabe), and adult-plant resistance to leaf rust (Puccinia triticina Eriks.). Sabin is well adapted to hard red spring wheat growing regions in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.
