Abstract

Epileptics not only must endure the social stigmas attached to their disorder but also may suffer legal consequences such as the loss of driving privileges. Fortunately, proper medication allows the majority of epileptics to lead a normal life. The introduction of new, improved antiepileptic drugs in the 1980s should afford even greater control over seizures. Dr Leppik presents a succinct but thorough review of epilepsy and seizures and points out the importance of comprehensive evaluation prior to treatment.
