Abstract

The stability of the extinction ratio of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) was assessed with variations in the semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) bias currents, as well as with the wavelength and the power of the pump and probe. The operating bias used concludes that the wavelength sensitivity of MZI is significantly lower than the sensitivity to the powers of input signals. Furthermore, closely spaced WDM channels could share the same MZI and still have similar extinction ratio (ER) performance across wavelength.
