Abstract
Power electronics is an enabling technology; its role extends from computers and cell phones to large motor drives. There are growing utility applications of power electronics for interfacing distributed generation to the utility grid. The deregulation in the utility industry would require power-electronics based devices to direct power flow along designated transmission and distribution corridors. This paper describes a building-block approach to power electronics that is pedagogical as well as practical for Designers.
