Abstract

The advances in bone marrow transplantation that have been incorporated into standard practice in treatment of several types of leukemia have been remarkable, although transplantation is still accompanied by a multitude of risks and complications. Refinements under investigation hold promise of long-term survival for many patients whose disease is now considered fatal.
