Abstract
A verification of the Clauser method was carried out by numerically solving the momentum integral equation and the result was compared with the value of the friction velocity determined from a least-squares fit of the experimental data with an analytical description of the universal law of the wall. Velocity measurements using a boundary-layer hot-wire probe were performed in a test section contained in a suction-type wind tunnel. The velocity profiles were measured using an IFA-100 (TSI) hot-wire anemometer and a boundary layer probe mounted on a precision three-axis measurement system. A lower limit of momentum-based Reynolds number (Reδ2) for a logarithmic profile in the turbulent boundary layer was of the order of 350. The results revealed that the value of Reδ2 at the first position was 770 and the freestream turbulence levels were in the range 0.30.4%.
