Abstract

Eighteen swine operators were identified in the state and their farrowing waste-handling systems evaluated. These operations were divided into three groups by storage units; ″no storage,″ ″all storage,″ and ″partial storage″ of waste in the building. Odor levels, numbers of sows, pigs born, pigs weaned, and labor use are all reported for each operation.
